FAQs

Facial balancing with dermal fillers involves using hyaluronic acid-based injectables to enhance, restore, and harmonize the proportions of the face. The goal is to create a more balanced and youthful appearance by adding volume to areas that have lost definition, softening deep lines, and improving symmetry. Dermal fillers can be used on various areas of the face such as the cheeks, chin, jawline, and under the eyes to enhance facial features and achieve a more proportionate look.

Dermal fillers restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and smooth wrinkles to create a balanced look. By strategically placing fillers in specific areas of the face, we can:

Add volume to the cheeks for a youthful contour.

Define the jawline for more structure.

Create a more harmonious chin shape.

Address nasolabial folds (smile lines) or marionette lines (lines around the mouth).

Lift the under-eye area and correct hollowness.
The result is a more symmetrical, refreshed, and natural-looking facial appearance.

Dermal fillers can be used to enhance a variety of facial features. Common treatment areas include:

Cheeks – Restoring volume to hollow or flat cheeks to lift and contour the face.

Chin – Enhancing chin projection to balance the lower face with the rest of the facial features.

Jawline – Defining and sculpting the jawline for a more chiseled, youthful look.

Under the eyes – Treating dark circles or hollows under the eyes for a refreshed appearance.

Nasolabial folds – Softening deep smile lines between the nose and mouth.

Marionette lines – Lifting the lines that run from the corners of the mouth down toward the chin.

Lips – Enhancing volume and definition for fuller, more balanced lips.

The majority of dermal fillers used for facial balancing are based on hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that provides hydration and volume. These fillers are biocompatible, meaning they are generally well-tolerated by the body and are safely broken down over time. Some fillers may also contain calcium hydroxyapatite or poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulate collagen production for longer-lasting results.

The longevity of dermal filler results varies depending on the type of filler used and the area treated. On average:

Cheeks: 12-18 months

Jawline and Chin: 12-18 months

Under-eye area: 6-12 months

Nasolabial folds and Marionette lines: 6-12 months

Lips: 6-9 months

Results can vary depending on individual factors, including metabolism, lifestyle, and skin type. Maintaining results typically requires touch-up treatments every 6-18 months.

Most facial balancing treatments can be completed in 2-3 sessions, especially for smaller adjustments. For larger areas or multiple areas being treated, you may require a follow-up session to perfect the balance or achieve the desired result. After your initial treatment, follow-up sessions may be needed to maintain your results.

While dermal filler injections can cause mild discomfort, most patients find the procedure tolerable. To make the process more comfortable:

Topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment areas.

Some dermal fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to reduce pain during the injection process.
Patients typically experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation during the treatment, but discomfort is minimal and short-lived.

Recovery after facial balancing is typically quick with minimal downtime. After the treatment, you might experience:

Redness or swelling at the injection sites (usually subsides within a few hours to a day).

Bruising in some areas (can last up to a week).

Mild soreness or tenderness in the treated areas.

You can usually return to normal activities right away, though it’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure for 24-48 hours.

Dermal fillers are generally very safe, but, like any injectable treatment, there are some risks:

Temporary swelling, redness, or bruising (most common and resolves quickly).

Lumps or bumps under the skin (usually resolves naturally or can be massaged out).

Infection (rare when performed by a trained professional).

Asymmetry (usually correctable with follow-up treatments).

Allergic reaction (rare, especially with hyaluronic acid-based fillers).
Your practitioner will discuss any potential risks during your consultation to ensure you’re fully informed.

Facial balancing with dermal fillers is suitable for individuals who want to:

Restore volume to areas like the cheeks or under-eye region.

Correct facial asymmetry or enhance facial contours.

Soften deep lines such as nasolabial folds or marionette lines.

Create a more balanced, youthful appearance without surgery.

A consultation with our expert practitioner is necessary to assess your needs and determine if dermal fillers are right for you.

Before treatment:

Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the procedure to minimize the risk of bruising.

Refrain from taking blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin or ibuprofen) for a few days before your treatment.

After treatment:

Avoid touching or massaging the treated areas for 24-48 hours.

Avoid excessive heat, such as saunas or sunbathing, for a few days.

Don’t engage in strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours.

Use sunscreen to protect your skin, especially in the treated areas.
